A native of Allentown, where she studied for eight years with Dr. Walter. E. Baum, MARILYN H, DWYER had also studied at the Moore College of Art and taught in private academic schools for six years. She presently fills a rigorous schedule of exhibits and lecture-demonstrations, and serves as a juror for competitive art shows.
Marilyn is most noted for her enriched treatment of the vanishing Pennsylvania landscape, as well as the varied New England coastal region. The palette Knife and oil technique she employs with such passion and skill is ideally matched to her subjects, cluttered fishing trawlers, quiet streams in woodland settings, and ramshackle barns.
A fully-developed color sense is evident in the success she enjoys in portraying a wide range of weather and seasons. But the detail of nature and the Constructions of men implement rather than intrude on the poetic expressions of her paintings.
Awards, prizes and honors in recognition of the Dwyer paintings have come from galleries, community and campus exhibits in locales from Maine to the Mid-Atlantic coast region.
Private collectors throughout the United States and in Canada own examples of her work, and gallery (Pinehedge), in Southeastern Pennsylvania near Pottstown, regularly attracts numerous buyers from a wide spread area.
